Last year, we titled your ears towards Gus Dapperton’s You Think You’re A Comic! EP featuring our personal favourite track ‘Amadelle With Love’. It was a much praised first release from the artist, and so it’s exciting to see that Dapperton has released a new single ‘My Favourite Fish’, which also happens to tease his recently announced debut album. As far as alternative love songs go, ‘My Favourite Fish’ is up there with its unique metaphors and rhythmically timed lyrics over a more expected acoustic guitar. Take note of the line “soft spoken / chipper and choking / Jess will lead the way cus she can mimic the motions.” This fictionalised Jess is inspired by Gus Dapperton’s girlfriend Jess Farran who is also the photographer behind the artwork for this song.
